Overview
BuilderIO/builder is the MIT-licensed monorepo for SDKs, examples, starters, and plugins that connect the Builder.io visual-development platform to existing sites and applications. It covers React, Vue, Svelte, Qwik, Angular, and other stacks. Releases are package-specific; the GitHub latest endpoint on September 17, 2026 points to @builder.io/sdk-qwik@0.25.13 rather than a platform-wide version.
Features and best fit
Based on official documentation; not hands-on tested · Content checked:
Connect existing components to the Visual Editor and render Builder content inside your application
Builder.io connects to an existing site or app so teams can visually author content with existing components, Figma designs, or drag-and-drop editing, then render that content through framework SDKs. This repository hosts those SDKs, examples, starters, and plugins.
Integrate across React, Vue, Svelte, Qwik, Angular, and other frontend stacks
The monorepo contains framework-specific SDKs and E2E examples. The generated React SDK, for example, is installed as @builder.io/sdk-react.
For teams adding visual authoring or headless CMS capabilities without replacing an existing frontend codebase
It fits teams that want marketers or designers to author experiences while keeping existing React, Vue, Svelte, Qwik, or other components in the application.

This MIT repository is not a self-hostable implementation of the entire Builder platform
The README describes this repository as the home of SDKs, usage examples, starter projects, and plugins. It does not contain a drop-in self-hosted copy of the hosted Visual Editor and Content platform backend. Releases are also independently versioned per package, so the GitHub latest release is not a platform-wide Builder version.

Supplemental curator note
Treat this repository as the open integration layer for Builder, not as a self-hostable Visual Editor backend.
