Overview
Ent is an entity framework for Go. Database schemas are modeled as Go objects and code generation produces statically typed APIs. Graph traversal, queries and aggregations, multiple storage drivers, and template-based extension support large data models.
Features and best fit
Based on official documentation; not hands-on tested · Content checked:
Key features
Generate statically typed CRUD and query APIs from schema-as-code definitions
Entities, fields, and edges are defined in Go schemas, then the generator produces typed clients, builders, and predicates so database access is easier to follow at compile time.

Represent relationships as graph edges across multiple storage drivers
Edges support relationship traversal, queries, and aggregations. The README lists MySQL, MariaDB, TiDB, PostgreSQL, CockroachDB, SQLite, and Gremlin among supported storage targets.

Best fit
Fits Go backends that want schema changes reviewed as code and strongly typed data access
Ent is useful for larger data models where teams prefer explicit schema definitions and generated APIs over reflection-heavy ORM behavior or extensive hand-written SQL.

Before adoption
v0.14.6 declares Go 1.24 and toolchain 1.24.0; keep generator and runtime versions aligned
The v0.14.6 go.mod declares Go 1.24 with toolchain go1.24.0. Because Ent is generation-centric, keep the entc generator compatible with the runtime package and review generated-code diffs in source control or CI.

Supplemental curator note
Ent generates typed APIs from schemas, making model changes and generated diffs explicit. Keep the ent code generator and runtime package on compatible versions and verify generated code in CI for reproducible builds.
