Production requires plans for initialization and unsealing, storage, high availability, authentication, least-privilege policy, audit logs, backups, and disaster recovery. The LICENSE for Vault 1.15 and later is Business Source License 1.1 with IBM as licensor and restricts paid competitive hosted or embedded offerings. Each version changes to MPL-2.0 four years after publication.
