Overview
Hyperswitch is an open-source payments platform connecting many payment processors while composing routing, retries, vaulting, reconciliation, cost observability, and other modules.
Features and best fit
Based on official documentation; not hands-on tested · Content checked:
Unify connections to many payment processors
A broad connector layer reduces the need to implement every PSP integration independently.
Compose routing, recovery, vaulting, reconciliation, and observability
Teams can select modules for authorization routing, revenue recovery, payment-method storage, reconciliation, and cost analysis.
For payment stacks moving beyond a single PSP
It fits teams introducing multi-PSP routing or re-architecting payment infrastructure while retaining existing processor relationships.

Production use requires more than a local quickstart
PCI scope, availability, secrets, observability, reconciliation, and failure behavior must be designed explicitly for production.

Supplemental curator note
Hyperswitch can replace a gateway or add selected modules to an existing stack. Payments carry significant PCI, sensitive-data, retry, routing, and reconciliation obligations, so local deployment is not equivalent to production readiness.
