Overview

LobeHub goes beyond putting several AI chats in one interface. It lets you define roles with Agent Builder, collaborate through Agent Groups, run work on schedules, and organize activity with Projects and Workspaces. Personal Memory keeps a structured, editable model of how you work, positioning agents as persistent teammates rather than one-off chat sessions. With multiple model providers, MCP-compatible plugins, an IM Gateway, and self-hosting options, it can serve as anything from a personal AI workspace to an always-on agent layer for a team.

LobeHub is a good fit when research, writing, coding, or operational work is already spread across several AI chats and the cost of repeatedly rebuilding context is becoming significant. Scheduled reports, recurring research, parallel agent work, and shared team ownership of agents are especially natural use cases. If the requirement is only a lightweight chat interface for one model, the additional Workspace, Memory, and orchestration layers may be more infrastructure than necessary.

Self-hosting brings a real application stack, and the license is not plain Apache-2.0

The self-hosting guide describes a core stack of Next.js, PostgreSQL, and S3-compatible storage, with Redis recommended for sessions and caching. Docker Compose can bundle PostgreSQL, Redis, RustFS, and Searxng, but operators still own backups, monitoring, TLS, authentication, and API-key handling. Vercel is easier to start with but requires an external PostgreSQL database and carries a 10-second serverless-function limit and no WebSocket support.

The repository uses the LobeHub Community License, which is based on Apache License 2.0 but adds commercial-use conditions. Unmodified commercial use as a frontend or backend service is permitted, while developing and distributing a commercial derivative based on LobeHub requires obtaining a commercial license from the producer. Anyone building derivative products or redistributing modified versions should therefore review the repository's license terms rather than treating the code as plain Apache-2.0 software.
