NocoDB — spreadsheet-style database management with self-hosting, views, permissions, and APIs

About these scores

OSS scale score is an unbounded metric that log-compresses and weights Stars, Watchers, Forks, and Contributors. Discovery score is the current OSS scale score minus the score at discovery. Update pace is commits in the last 30 days, growth momentum is the OSS scale score difference within the recent observation window, and OSS health is a 0–100 rating based on available recency, Community Health, and release data.

Overview

NocoDB provides a spreadsheet-like interface for database tables and rows, with grid, gallery, form, kanban, and calendar views. It also includes access control, shared views, REST APIs/SDKs, integrations, and Docker-based self-hosting. The latest release checked is 2026.09.0.

Features and best fit

Based on official documentation; not hands-on tested · Content checked:

Edit database tables through a spreadsheet-like interface and switch views by workflow

Users can create and edit rows and columns, sort, filter, and group data, then use grid, gallery, form, kanban, or calendar views. Database-oriented field types include links, lookup, rollup, formulas, attachments, and more.

Connect business data through access control, sharing, and REST APIs

Role-based access and public/private views support team use, while REST APIs and the NocoDB SDK provide programmatic access. The project also documents chat, email, and object-storage integrations.

For teams that want database structure and APIs without requiring every user to work in SQL

It fits collaborative operational data such as customer lists, inventory, requests, and content where spreadsheet-style interaction is useful but database controls and APIs are also needed.

The Sustainable Use License is source-available rather than conventional open source

The current master and develop branches use the Sustainable Use License. It permits internal business, non-commercial, and personal use while restricting other uses and redistribution. Because this is not an OSI-approved open-source license, self-hostability should not be confused with unrestricted commercial redistribution. Production deployments should also pin versions and back up the underlying database.

Supplemental curator note

NocoDB is source-available and self-hostable, but its current Sustainable Use License restricts permitted use and distribution. It should not be treated as conventional OSI-approved open source without reviewing the license.
