Overview
ownCloud Infinite Scale (oCIS) is ownCloud's newer file sync and sharing platform. Its Go-based multi-service architecture combines a web UI, mobile and desktop clients, office integrations, and OIDC authentication, scaling from a single server to Kubernetes.
Features and best fit
Based on official documentation; not hands-on tested · Content checked:
Sync and share files across web, mobile, and desktop clients
The bundled web UI and ownCloud Android, iOS, and desktop clients connect to shared file spaces.
Combine web-office integrations with OIDC authentication
oCIS integrates with Collabora Online, OnlyOffice, and other office systems and can use external Keycloak or the embedded identity provider through OIDC.
For organizations operating file collaboration under their own data-governance controls
It suits on-premises and private deployments that need file sharing while retaining the option to scale out multiple services.

Separate evaluation settings from production and source licensing from distributed-build terms
The quickstart uses insecure evaluation settings. Production deployments should follow the official guides, and some stable distributed builds may be subject to an EULA.

Supplemental curator note
The OpenAlternative ownCloud entry maps to Infinite Scale (`owncloud/ocis`). The source repository is Apache-2.0, while the README notes that some stable builds distributed by ownCloud GmbH may be subject to an EULA, so source licensing and binary distribution terms should be evaluated separately.
