Overview
PowerToys is a suite of utilities for adapting Windows interactions and layouts to a user's workflow. More than 30 tools—including FancyZones for arranging windows, PowerRename for batch renaming, and Command Palette for finding applications and commands—are managed from one settings application. It can be installed from Microsoft Store, GitHub Releases, or WinGet.

Key features
Extend window management, search, and file operations from one settings app
FancyZones creates layout regions for multiple windows, PowerRename changes many file names together, and Command Palette or PowerToys Run finds applications and commands quickly. Color Picker, Text Extractor, Image Resizer, Keyboard Manager, and other tools are included in the same product, and users can choose which utilities to enable.

Best fit
Fits Windows users who want to shorten recurring small tasks
It suits Windows users who repeatedly restore multi-monitor layouts, apply patterned renames, or capture colors and text from the screen. It also provides a practical place to test utilities one at a time before adding separate resident applications for each task.

Before adoption
It is Windows-specific and requires deliberate utility and telemetry settings
PowerToys targets Windows and is not a matching macOS or Linux edition. Because the suite contains many tools, adopters should check for conflicts with existing applications and operating-system shortcuts and disable utilities they do not need. The README states that the application logs basic diagnostic data and links to detailed privacy documentation. Stable release v0.101.2362.0 is distributed under the MIT License.

Supplemental curator note
PowerToys is a useful first stop before assembling separate applications for recurring Windows annoyances. Enable only the tools you need, then review shortcut conflicts and diagnostic-data settings as part of adoption.
