Scira — plan, retrieve, cross-check, and answer with citations

About these scores

OSS scale score is an unbounded metric that log-compresses and weights Stars, Watchers, Forks, and Contributors. Discovery score is the current OSS scale score minus the score at discovery. Update pace is commits in the last 30 days, growth momentum is the OSS scale score difference within the recent observation window, and OSS health is a 0–100 rating based on available recency, Community Health, and release data.

Overview

Scira is an agentic research platform that decomposes questions, retrieves information from the web and specialist sources such as academic search, GitHub, Reddit, and financial data, and returns answers with inline citations.

Features and best fit

Based on official documentation; not hands-on tested · Content checked:

Plan sub-tasks and retrieve evidence from multiple source types

Agentic planning chooses search modes and tools, gathers evidence from multiple sources, and cross-checks results.

Return cited answers and run recurring research agents

Answers include inline citations, while Lookouts can schedule recurring research on changing topics.

For combining web search and deep research in one codebase

It suits workflows that need to cross web, academic, code, community, and market-data sources through agentic orchestration.

Self-hosting still relies on many external API providers

Docker and local deployment are supported, but many search, model, maps, media, and data features require third-party API keys. Review data flow and cost per enabled feature.

Supplemental curator note

Scira goes beyond summarizing a single search result by planning sub-tasks, searching multiple sources, cross-checking evidence, and producing cited answers. Self-hosting does not mean fully offline operation: the default architecture integrates multiple search, data, and LLM providers.
