Overview
FalkorDB represents property graphs with sparse matrices and uses linear algebra for graph query execution. It exposes an OpenCypher-compatible query interface through Redis-module GRAPH.* commands.
Features and best fit
Based on official documentation; not hands-on tested · Content checked:
Key features
Operate property graphs with OpenCypher
Nodes, relationships, and properties can be created and queried through Cypher, including raw GRAPH.* commands from Redis clients.
Sources: [2]
Use sparse matrices and linear algebra for graph traversal
Adjacency data is stored in sparse matrix form and graph operations are mapped onto linear-algebra processing.
Sources: [2]
Best fit
Fits knowledge-graph and GraphRAG retrieval layers
It is relevant when applications need to traverse entity relationships and provide structured graph context to LLM workflows.

Before adoption
Upgrade every replication node together when moving from 4.x to 6.0
The 6.0 replication effects format is not compatible with 4.x in either direction, so engine generations must not be mixed inside one replication group.

Review SSPL v1 terms before deployment
The repository uses Server Side Public License v1 and GitHub reports the license as NOASSERTION. Review the applicable service and redistribution terms before adoption.

Supplemental curator note
FalkorDB is a property graph database using sparse adjacency matrices and linear algebra. Version 6.0.0 replaces the previous C query engine with a Rust implementation while retaining GRAPH.* commands, Cypher, and client libraries. Replication formats are incompatible between 4.x and 6.0, so they must not be mixed in one primary/replica set. The repository LICENSE is Server Side Public License v1 and GitHub reports SPDX as NOASSERTION.
