Key features
Turn MDX content into documentation navigation and UI
Documentation content can live in MDX and feed sidebars, breadcrumbs, tables of contents, search, and other docs-oriented components.
Choose templates for several React frameworks
create-fumadocs-app supports Next.js, Astro, React Router, TanStack Start, Waku, and related templates.

Best fit
Fits libraries, APIs, and products that want docs versioned with code
It works well when documentation should stay in Git and MDX and use the same frontend build and deployment workflow as application code.

Before adoption
Packages are ESM-only
The README explicitly states that all packages are ESM-only, which matters when integrating with CommonJS-oriented tooling.

Supplemental curator note
Fumadocs is a documentation framework and toolkit for Next.js, Astro with React, TanStack Start, Waku, React Router, and related stacks. Packages are ESM-only. The core release is 16.15.17, while create-fumadocs-app at that tag is on a separate 16.2.12 version line, so CLI and core package versions should not be assumed to match.
