概要
PolarはAI/SaaS向けのbilling platformで、usage billing、subscription、seat、credit、trial、discountを組み合わせ、checkoutやcustomer billing flowへつなげます。READMEではtoken、API call、agent run、GPU秒、storageなどAI workload固有のmeteringを前面に出しています。

導入前の確認
Merchant of Recordはsource codeのApache-2.0とは別のservice価値として評価する
READMEはPolarがMerchant of Recordとしてreceipt、customer account、dunning、sales tax/VATを扱うと説明しています。一方repository licenseはApache-2.0なので、hosted serviceの契約・手数料・法的役割とsource利用条件を分けて確認します。
local developmentではlive Stripe accountを使わない
development guideは各local environmentで専用Stripe sandboxを使い、live accountやshared team accountへ接続しないよう明示しています。

dev upは複数infrastructureとsecret setupをまとめて変更する
dev upはDocker、uv、pnpm、Node.js、PostgreSQL、Redis、MinIO、GitHub App/Stripe設定、migrationなどを扱います。開発端末への導入範囲とsecret保存先を確認して実行します。

token、API call、agent run、GPU秒などをmeterしてusage billingへつなぐ設計が特徴です。repositoryはApache-2.0ですが、READMEが説明するMerchant of Record・税処理などはPolarのhosted serviceとしての提供価値なので、source codeのライセンスとservice契約を分けて評価します。

Polarを取得
公式repositoryを取得し、development toolを使うlocal環境へ移動します。

dev commandをセットアップ
公式development guideのone-time installerでdev aliasを追加します。完了後は案内に従ってterminalを再起動またはshell設定を読み直します。

local stackを構築
Docker、PostgreSQL、Redis、MinIO、Python/JS dependencies、migrationなどをまとめて準備します。Stripe連携は必ず専用sandboxを使い、完了後にdev api / dev worker / dev webを別terminalで起動します。
