Before adoption
The runtime needs a web stack and image-processing dependencies
Version 16.4.0 requires PHP 7.4+, MySQL or MariaDB, and recommends ImageMagick with PHP GD as an alternative. Backups and upgrades remain operator responsibilities.
Treat GPL licensing and trademarks separately
COPYING.txt states GPL v2 or later while Piwigo is a registered trademark, so branding decisions for forks are separate from source-code permissions.
